If you’ve been laid off and want to participate in long-term training for a new job, you may qualify for Second Career Study Funding.

Second Career Strategy is an Ontario government program that is specially designed to offer training for a new job, including financial support. Due to the downturn in the manufacturing sector and other sectors of the labour market, the Ontario government has allocated significant amounts of resources (over $355 million) to help affected individuals to re-train for other highly skilled jobs and careers.

This cost-sharing grant is provided on the basis of need, so you may be asked to contribute what you can to your training or education. Effective November 20, 2009, there have been some changes to the criteria for Second Career. For more information, call (416) 510-2739.
